Dear Editor,
Recently many places in China were blanketed with thick fog. The Air Quality Index in most parts reached 500.Everything around disappeared from our sight. Some highways were closed. More traffic jams and accidents happened .People had to wear masks .What’s worse, many people found it difficult to breathe.
The heavy hazy weather in China has been caused by many factors. First, the severely polluted environment contributed a lot to this nightmare. Second, the increase of cars in the city area plays an important role. The cars send off a lot of poisonous gases.
In my opinion, We should call on people to use more public transport, thus reducing the number of cars in the streets. Besides, some factories which cause pollution should be closed down. What’s more, We have to do more to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection . Only in this way can we expect to have more sunny days.

最近中國(guó)很多地方被濃霧籠罩著。大部分地區(qū)的空氣質(zhì)量指數(shù)達(dá)到500。周?chē)囊磺芯蛷奈覀兊囊暰�中消失了。一些高速公路被關(guān)閉。更多的交通堵塞和事故發(fā)生。人們必須戴口罩。更糟糕的是,很多人發(fā)現(xiàn)很難呼吸。
沉重的朦朧的天氣在中國(guó)已經(jīng)由許多因素引起的。首先,嚴(yán)重污染環(huán)境造成了很多這個(gè)噩夢(mèng)。其次,汽車(chē)的增加在城市地區(qū)扮演重要的角色。汽車(chē)發(fā)送了大量的有毒氣體。
在我看來(lái),我們應(yīng)該呼吁人們多使用公共交通工具,從而減少在街道上的汽車(chē)數(shù)量。此外,應(yīng)該關(guān)閉一些工廠造成污染。更重要的是,我們必須做更多的工作來(lái)提高人們的環(huán)境保護(hù)意識(shí)。只有用這種方法我們才能期望有更多的晴天。

Dear David,
I’m glad to receive your letter. I have learned from your letter that you are concerned about the smog which frequently appears in some areas of China. Thank you for your concern. I’m also very worried about such terrible weather because it has brought much inconvenience or rather harm to people’s health such as traffic jam, road accidents, bad coughs, throat hurts and ever lung cancers and so on.
As everybody knows, a good environment comes from good protection. So we should do what we can to make a difference. Try to drive less and choose air-friendly products. Only when everyone has the environmental awareness can we have cleaner air.
