LIFE IS A CHOICE
In our daily lives, we have many choices to make, such as what to eat for supper,what clothes to wear, or what to do on weekends. At certain times in our
lives, we need to make even more critical choices, such as which school to attend, what job to take or who to choose as husband or wife. Yes, life is a matter of choice. Seemimgly, it means a choice of tangible things. But in essence, it means choosing a way of life. Life is to be lived, savored, and enjoyed, not to be wasted or complained about.
Hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the grave threat from the life-and-death disease--SARS. Yet, even during those dreadful times, some afflicted people remained optimistic. Instead of wearing neutral white masks, some people turned to colouful ones, and thus display a happy mood. And some creative people dubbed SARS to mean "SMILE AND REMAIN SMILING." I was deeply touched by their optimisim, nearly forgetting that we're still in a battle. people who survive these kinds of circumstances, (at some point)decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the overwhelming odds.
laid-off workers, typically regarded as the victims of economic advancement, are subject to desperation that being unmeployed has brought on them. But,
encouragingly, we have witnessed some of them striving hard to rebuild confidence toward life and discover new opportunities for demonstrating their values.
Although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities, we do have the privilege to choose to live optimistcally,to love our lives, to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.
Every morning when we get up, we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day. As for me, I choose to be cheerful.
生活是一種選擇
日常生活中,我們會(huì)面臨各種各樣的選擇,像是晚餐吃什么,穿什么或是如何度周末.而在人生中的特定階段,我們需要做出更多關(guān)鍵性的抉擇,例如教育,職業(yè)或者人生伴侶.生活就意味著一種選擇.這種選擇看似是對(duì)具體事物的判斷,但歸根究底,是一種生活方式的選擇.任何無(wú)味的抱怨和虛度光陰只會(huì)帶來(lái)乏味,生活的美需要細(xì)心品嘗,用心體會(huì).
如今回想起那段籠罩在SARS陰影下的日子依然心有余悸.但即便在那樣令人沮喪的日
子里,備受折磨的`人們也始終保持著樂(lè)觀.為傳遞一種歡快的情緒,大家換上了色彩繽紛的口罩.而那些富有創(chuàng)造力的人則把SARS解釋為"笑口常開".他們對(duì)待生活的樂(lè)觀態(tài)度深深打動(dòng)了我,幾乎讓我忘記我們還身處在沒(méi)有硝煙的戰(zhàn)場(chǎng).其實(shí),正是堅(jiān)持不懈,堅(jiān)忍不拔的精神引領(lǐng)人們走出了逆境.
被看做經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展?fàn)奚返膹V大下崗職工在面對(duì)生存壓力時(shí),特別容易陷入絕望當(dāng)中.但別人欣慰的是,我們看到越來(lái)越多的這個(gè)群體中的成員重建了對(duì)生活的信心,并重新立足于社會(huì)以實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的價(jià)值.
盡管容貌和天資都是上蒼給予,而人生旅途中的坎坷與荊棘我們也無(wú)法預(yù)計(jì),那就讓我們熱愛(ài)生命,擁有夢(mèng)想,珍惜希望吧.
每日清晨夢(mèng)醒,我們都被賦予了選擇生活的權(quán)利.而我會(huì)讓一切從愉快開始.

I believe in our future
Honorable Judges, fellow students:
Good afternoon!
Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at
extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?
The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe
in our future.

下午好！
最近，社會(huì)上有一場(chǎng)很激烈的爭(zhēng)論。大學(xué)生是一種稀有特權(quán)的享有者，在很棒的地方接受高等教育。但是，我們能面對(duì)挑戰(zhàn)而無(wú)所畏懼嗎？我們能夠改善他人的生活嗎？我們能夠承擔(dān)建設(shè)祖國(guó)未來(lái)的重任嗎？
懷疑論者說(shuō)大學(xué)生是被寵壞的一代，一丁點(diǎn)挫折都受不了。但是他們錯(cuò)了，我所看到的大學(xué)生正在努力的學(xué)習(xí)獨(dú)立生活。我們互相幫助打掃衛(wèi)生，一起上街砍價(jià)購(gòu)物，一起參加兼職工作來(lái)賺零花錢。
懷疑論者說(shuō)我們除了成績(jī)什么都不關(guān)心，從而忽略了性格的培養(yǎng)。但是，他們又錯(cuò)了。我們彼此關(guān)心，我們向往自由，我們珍惜公正，我們追求真理。上個(gè)星期，很多我的同學(xué)去驗(yàn)血，為了給患血癌的孩子貢獻(xiàn)自己的力量。
作為大學(xué)生，我們是處在人生分水嶺的'青年。我們都面臨一個(gè)重要的選擇：懷疑人生還是相信自己，每一種都會(huì)給我們的人生帶來(lái)重大的影響，甚至影響我們祖國(guó)的未來(lái)。我相信我們的同學(xué)們，雖然我們依然缺乏經(jīng)驗(yàn)，甚至有些志氣，但是我相信我們有勇氣和自信來(lái)面對(duì)生活的挑戰(zhàn)并承擔(dān)我們的責(zé)任。我們正努力準(zhǔn)備接受新的任務(wù)，用我們所學(xué)習(xí)的知識(shí)將世界變得更美好。我對(duì)我們的未來(lái)充滿信心。
