大象是群居動(dòng)物。一群大象中總有一只德高望重的領(lǐng)頭象，他既要帶領(lǐng)象群遷徙，又要保護(hù)象群免受其它野獸攻擊，所以責(zé)任重大，任務(wù)艱巨。
大象是一種古老的哺乳動(dòng)物。早在幾百萬(wàn)年以前，它就與恐龍等動(dòng)物共同生活在地球上，后來(lái)恐龍滅絕了，但大象卻頑強(qiáng)地生存了下來(lái)，說(shuō)明大象適應(yīng)環(huán)境能力比較強(qiáng)。今天看來(lái)，只要人類(lèi)盡力保護(hù)大象，大象作為一種動(dòng)物種類(lèi)再繼續(xù)生存幾百萬(wàn)年是不成問(wèn)題的。
